Dear Dave and family.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dad. What a great legacy he left to this world. So kind to everyone he talked to, and so very interesting. He led such a colorful life and seemed to enjoy every minute. His loyalty to your mother was something beyond anything I have seen. I loved him and my son Steve was so happy to be with you, Dustin and your dad. We were so lucky to have Ernie in our little town, and he will be remembered bu so many as such a kind and giving man. Many good wishes. Alanna

Ernie was a friend to all and a mentor to many.  When we think of our home town, we think of Ernie. His work in the Albion community will be remembered for years to come.
To Ernie's family, we send our sympathy and remember a life well lived.

Ernie was a remarkable man, and you will hear that many times in the days ahead, he has left an imprint on the Albion community in business, service to others and family. I always enjoyed seeing Ernie at Rotary, hearing the stories he would tell me of him and my dad when they were both in the automobile business, he would laugh, a say my dad was a good friend even though they were in competition with each other.
Our thoughts and prayers go out the Leatherman family, and yes we are sorry we will miss his funeral and a chance to say a final goodbye to Ernie.
