Teresa McArdle

Teresa H. "Terry" "Tress" McArdle, 76, of Avilla, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 18, 2026.  She was born on June 2, 1949, in Pinneberg, Germany, to Henryk and Apolonia (Gryczman) Pietraszewski.  Her family immigrated to the US in 1956 and gained citizenship in 1957.  She retired from the Indiana State Developmental Center in Fort Wayne after 37 years of service.  She then worked for Irene Byron Health Center for 5 years. 

Terry loved crocheting - dedicating an entire room in her home to the craft.  She also loved word puzzles and caring for her cats and dog.  She was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla and belonged to the Avilla American Legion Post 240 Ladies Auxiliary. 

On October 8, 2008, in Avilla, she married Michael McArdle.  He survives.  Also surviving is her brother, Pete Pietraszewski of Mesa, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Eve Sauv'e, and infant brother, Andrew. 

Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, April 24, 2026 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Fr Dave Voors will officiate.  Visitation also from 2-6pm, Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the funeral home, with recitation of the Rosary at 5:00pm.  Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Avilla.

Contributions in Terry's memory may be directed to Avilla American Legion Post #240 Ladies Auxiliary.
