Shelva “Shelby” Pogue age 71 of Kendallville, IN died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Shelby was born December 26, 1946 in Caretta, WV. to Richard and Maggie (Brewster) Hicks. She moved to Kendallville in 1957 from War, WV. She married Walter H. Pogue on December 26, 1993 who died October 10, 2013. Shelby worked in assembly at King Sealy for over 20 years. She was a member of the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church – Wolcottville, IN.
Shelby is survived by 2 daughters: Masie (Marc) Vance, Kendallville, IN; Angie Mosley, Kendallville, IN; son: Philip (Michelle) Chaffins, Waterloo, IN; brother: Ralph (Anna Marie) Hicks, Roanoke, VA; 2 sisters; Alma Scott, War, WV; Evelyn (David) Scott, Auburn, IN; Grandchildren: Ashlynn Sparkman, Josh Sparkman, River Chaffins, Gary Chaffins, Zeke Chaffins, Autumn Taylor, Matthew Vance, Kayla Vance; great grandchildren: Makilah Sparkman, Derek Collins, Harper Hodge, Adi Chaffins, Elara Boyle, Wyatt Taylor, Clayton Taylor and Madden Taylor.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Maggie Hicks; grandson: Joey Sparkman; brothers: Julis Hicks, Carl Hicks, Odell Hicks; sister: Massie Hicks.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church – Wolcottville, IN.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the church with Pastor Billy Fields officiating.
Burial will take place in Orange Cemetery – Rome City, IN
Memorials are to the family to assist with expenses.
