AVILLA — Rose Mary Duehmig, 88, of Avilla, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Rose was born on Aug. 13, 1935, to Joseph and Leona (Blaskie) Kobiela, in Garrett, Indiana. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Garrett.
Rose married Marion “Ted” Duehmig on June 9, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett.
She was a bookkeeper by trade, working at Garrett State Bank and later for the former Kendallville Bank & Trust. She had also work for Assmann Corporation. Throughout her career, she also was a homemaker, helping to raise her family. Rose enjoyed reading and riding in the car through the countryside.
Survivors include her husband, Marion "Ted" Duehmig, of Avilla; son, Anthony (Lisa) Duehmig, of Avilla; and daughter, Mary (Mike) Casselman, of Kendallville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jennifer Casselman, Derek (Mackenzye) Casselman, Hillary (Jason) Kline, Kyle (Clarissa) Duehmig and Kelsie Duehmig; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorthy Bonnar, of Florida;
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Leona; brothers, Ed Kobiela and Bill Kobiela; and sister, Rita Mansfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 228 N. Main St., Avilla, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.
Fr. Dave Voors will celebrate the Mass.
Visitation will also be held from 3-7 p.m., on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla, with a Rosary service being held at 7 p.m.
Rose will be laid to rest at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Avilla.
Memorials in Rose’s memory may be directed to Riley Hospital for Children, St Mary’s Catholic School, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
