Kendallville - Roger L. Engle, 89, of Kendallville, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on June 1, 1936, in Washington Township, Noble County, Indiana, to Haskel and Esther (Piper) Engle. Roger co-owned and operated Columbia City Insulation and Kendallville Insulation. He later retired from Dana Weatherhead as a machine operator after many years of service. Roger was a person that always kept busy - even when he wasn't working, he was working around the house or out in the lawn. He enjoyed gardening and classic cars. He will be most remembered for being a guy who was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need.
On October 8, 1988, he married Dorothy A. Mullins. She survives in Kendallville. Also surviving are children, Kim Engle, LeeAnn (Ernie) Confer, Brenda (Randy) Farmer, Sharon Masters, Glen Masters, and Ray Masters; grandchildren, Kara (Tyler) Sullivan, Justin (Mary) Miller, Kimberly (Nick) Kaiser, Derek (Dana) Miller, Kelsey (Chad) Pauley, Kyle (Ashton) Confer, Gary Masters II, Aren (Brandon) Armstrong, Heather Masters, Sabra (Skylar) Bradley, Derick (Kimberly) Gienger, Jeremy Masters, Brandi (Justin) Krause, Marcus (Katie) Farmer, Ashley (David Traxler) Masters, Megan (Austin) Schenher, and Mariah Masters. Also surviving are 38 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and sisters, Dora Stahl and Barbara Herendeen. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary (Masters) Gienger; son, Gary Masters; great grandchild, Katelynn Masters; and siblings, Mary Farris, Kenneth Engle, and Dale Engle.
Funeral service in Roger's memory will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Pastor Mike Albaugh will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time on Saturday. Burial will follow at Orange Township Cemetery, Brimfield.
