Robert H. “Bob” Brownell, 81, of Albion, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born on October 11, 1944, in Gloversville, NY, to Howard and Wanda (Spadnewski) Brownell. Bob graduated from Rhinebeck Central Schools in New York and moved to this area to pursue college at Tri-State University in Angola. He had worked for GTE prior to becoming a certified paramedic, eventually retiring from DeKalb EMS. Bob dedicated much of his life to public safety and was a long-time member of the Albion Fire Department. Prior to that he was a firefighter with Kendallville Fire Department and Garrett Fire Department. Bob served as Garrett Fire Chief for several years. He also was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association, the National Emergency Medical Technician Association, and former member of the Lions Club.
Bob leaves behind his children, Anna (Steve) Laskowski, Amy Antrup, and Robbie (Christina) Brownell; grandchild, Carson Antrup; and sister, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard; and son-in-law, Jerry Antrup.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or visitation held.
