Rita M Wineland

Avilla - Rita M. Wineland, 86, of Avilla, passed away peacefully on Thursday Feb 14, 2019 at Adams Heritage Nursing Home in Monroeville. She was born on Feb 23, 1932 in Wells County.  Rita married Joseph Wineland on Oct 16, 1949.  He preceded her in death on May 5, 2010.  She worked at Kraft for over 27 years, retiring in 1989.  She was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avilla, and American Legion Post #47 Auxiliary in Ft. Wayne.  Survivors include sons, Larry (Cindy) Wineland of Avilla, Fred Wineland of Columbia City, and Steven (Dianne) Wineland of Avilla, and daughters, Sharon Horton of Grand Rapids, MI, and Melanie (Paul) Strack of Monroeville.  Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and a sister in law June Wineland of Kendallville.  She preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Russell and Katherine Billow, and a granddaughter, Ananda Hughes.  Funeral service will be 11:00am Tuesday February 19, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 113 W Albion St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior to service.  Pastor Patrick Kuhlman will officiate.  Visitation will also be held from 2-6pm Monday February 18, 2019 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla.  Burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avilla.  Contributions in Rita's memory may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Adams Heritage - Activities Department.  To sign the online guestbook or leave a condolence, visit www.harperfuneralhomes.com
