Marilyn Jo Broom, 83, of Albion, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on August 2, 1942, to Richard and Lillian (Haines) Harris, in Huntington, Indiana. On July 1, 1962, Marilyn married George Broom, in Huntington, Indiana.
Marilyn was a lifelong florist. She owned Greenwood Floral Shop in Albion. She loved gardening and bird watching. Marilyn would frequently visit Chain O’Lakes State Park to draw, paint and take photos of nature. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and shopping at flea markets. Marilyn was a member of the Eastern Stars in both Albion and Huntington for over 50 years.
Surviving Marilyn are her sons Richard Broom, of Arcola, Indiana, Keith (Angela) Broom, of Markle, Indiana, and Darrell (Jennifer) Broom, of Albion, Indiana; sister Rebecca (Charles) Cross of Albion, Indiana; grandchildren Cassandra (Steaven) Busz, Katrina (Gene) Landers, Samantha (Heath) Huffman, Darrell (Courtney) Broom, Monica (Tyler) Walters, Alexandra (Cody) Brock, Sebastian Broom, Madisen (Bailey) Leitch, Tonya Broom, Tyler Broom, Austin Broom; Charles Jones; nephews Andrew Jones, Issac Cross; and niece Lois Jones.
Preceding Marilyn in death are her parents Richard and Lillian, husband, George, and nephew Zachary Cross.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Pastor Gina Spohnheimer will preside. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion. Visitation will take place from 2:00-6:00pm, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel with the Order of the Eastern Star Service at 5:30p, at the funeral home.
