Jerold L Zehr

Jerold L Zehr, 83, of Avilla, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, in his home in Avilla. Jerold was born on January 9, 1943, to Michael and Mabel (Crossgrove) Zehr, in Hicksville, Ohio. On September 12, 1964, he married Martha “Ann” Markland, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Jerold enjoyed fishing and putting together puzzles, but most of all he enjoyed being with his wife, Ann, and family.

Surviving Jerold are his wife Ann, daughters Niki (Bobby) Miller, of Auburn, Indiana, Angie Johnson, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Lawry (Charlie) Zehr-Mayton, of Gresham, Oregon; brothers Archie (Connie) Zehr, of Huntertown, Indiana, and Lynn ( Amy) Zehr, of Huntertown, Indiana; grandchildren Sandra Mayton and  Carla Mayton, of Sunbury,  Pennsylvania, Donald Salter Mayton, of Pensacola, Florida, Joseph (Carissa) Hansen, of Hesperia, California; and sister-in-law Carole Zehr of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Jerold is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mabel Zehr, brother Michael Zehr, brother James Zehr, sister Joyce Bowen, sister-in-law Susan Zehr, son-in-law Lamont Johnson, and grandson Robbie Lawson Mayton.

The funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Leo Cemetery and Memorial Park in Leo, Indiana, at 3:00pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026.
