James “Jim” Freeman, 74, of Albion, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Jim was born on October 15, 1951, in Wolf Lake, Indiana, to James and Gene (McCoy) Freeman. On September 23, 1972, Jim married Debra Wilson, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Albion, Indiana.
Jim retired from Klink Trucking in Ashley, IN on July 17, 2020, after 32 years. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator and loved his job. In earlier years he raised pigs and farmed while working and raising 3 daughters. In later years he enjoyed mowing his lawn and helping his son-in-laws with projects, where he was the engineer and supervisor. He loved to spend time with his family and was a great Papa Jim. After retirement he would plan breakfast with his old cronies from work that were also retired. He always looked forward to those days. One of his favorite things to do was get out the atlas and plan our routes before heading out on trips.
Surviving Jim are his wife Debra; daughters Jamilyn (Jes) Reeve, of Albion, Jaclyn (Justin) Diehm, of Albion, and Dr. Jillian (Casey) Geiger, of Albion; brothers Thomas (Kris) Freeman, of Kendallville, Melvin Freeman, of Fruitland, Florida, and brother-in-law Ray McGuire, of Churubusco; sister Debby Archer, of Tri-Lakes, Columbia City; mother-in-law Colleen Wilson, of Albion; grandchildren Jagar Diehm, Jeorgia Diehm, Wilson Geiger, Mickey Geiger, Maris Geiger, Junah Geiger, Asa Geiger, and Vance Geiger; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal K-9 companions Mary and Buster.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents James and Gene, sister Becky McGuire, and brother-in-law Gary Archer.
