Wawaka - James Robertson, 72, of Wawaka, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born on July 20, 1949, in Wawaka, to James Gilbert and Wava (Franklin) Robertson. James worked for B&O Railroad, later CSX, as a conductor until his retirement in 1997. He loved motorcycles and belonged to several riding clubs over the years. He was known for being late, which the guys referred to as "Jim Bob time." James also enjoyed watching westerns and documentaries. He was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. He was especially fond of his dogs.
On August 7, 2004, in Jellico, Tennessee, he married Melanie Hershberger. She survives in Wawaka. Also surviving are daughters, Tracey Wolfe Robertson of Columbia City, and Crystal Robertson of Avilla, and stepchildren, Matthew (Malone) Robertson of Wawaka, Mark Malone of Ft. Wayne, Krystal (Jesse) Leland of Garrett, and Michelle (Peter) Kramp of Stevensville, Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren Joshua Robertson, Brandon & Taylor Robertson, Raelynn Wolfe, Steve Wolfe Jr, Shannon Mitchell, Trey Rhodes, Katlyn Leland, Jasmin Leland, Jenifer Leland, Ethan Malone, Isabella Malone, Joseph Kramp, Isaiah Kramp, and Lillian Kramp; and great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Robertson, Kaleb Robertson, Kolten Robertson, Jackson Robertson, Corbin Rhodes, and Braxtyn and Lilith. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A celebration of James' life will held at 3pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla, with a gathering of family and friends from 1-3pm.
