Avilla – Hobart E. Hinkson, Jr., 61 of Avilla, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on January 29, 1961, in Fort Wayne, to Hobart and Donna Bell (Pattee) Hinkson. He was a US Army veteran and former Post Commander of Avilla American Legion Post 240. Hobart loved his family and grandkids. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and spelunking. He was a Colts fan and watched NASCAR races. He was employed at CLC.
On December 9, 1981, in Albion, he married Debra Harris. She survives in Avilla. Also surviving are daughters, Rose (Kevin) DeKoninck of Auburn and Amber (Anthony) Bianski of Garrett; grandchildren, Natalee Griggs, Dylan DeKoninck, Nathan DeKoninck, Saleah Bianski, and Chase Bianski; brothers, Jack (Vi) Hinkson of Warsaw and Wayne (Elena) Hinkson of Avilla; sisters, Joyce (Dave) Griffiths of Avilla and Linda Stauffer of Huntertown; brother in law, Ron Balliet of Laotto; and best friend, David (Pamela) DeKoninck of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carol Balliet, and brother, Jim Stuart.
Funeral service will be 12noon on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren, 2939 CR 15, Auburn, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla. Burial with military honors will be at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett. Memorials in his name may be directed to the family.
