Gene Teders Obituary

Gene F. Teders, of Fairbanks, Alaska, died on Nov. 21, 2023, in Desert Center, California.
Gene was born in 1949 and raised in Garrett, Indiana. He graduated from Garrett High School in 1967 and enjoyed many class reunions through the years with his lifelong friends he grew up with.
He proudly served in the Army from 1968-1970 in Germany. After discharge he joined the Carpenters union in Indiana and continued working in the Carpenters Local 1243 when he moved to Fairbanks in 1975. He worked on several projects throughout Alaska and a couple years in Hawaii. He also owned his own business, building and installing custom cabinets and countertops as well as custom homes.
Gene was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was very well known in the Fairbanks airboat community. He also built his own wood riverboat and custom designed his airboat.

He married Leslie Koch in 1984 and together they worked on their home and garden that many friends enjoyed through the years. Anyone who met Gene liked him immediately, his laugh was infectious, and his handshake was unforgettable. After retirement, Gene and his wife spent time in the winter in Desert Center where he discovered his new passion, playing golf. His game was improving every year, and he was recognized for that by the men's club at the Lake Tamarisk Golf Course.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eleanor Teders Harding; stepfather, Robert Harding; and brothers, Jim and Max Teders.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie; sister, Linda Curry (Jim) of Wolcottville, Indiana; his brother, Jerry Teders (Mary); and sisters-in-law, Jenny Teders of Garrett, Indiana and Mary Forester Teders, of Festus, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
