Elaine S Holbrook, 95, of Albion, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Sacred Heart Nursing Home, in Avilla, Indiana. She was born to Howard and Gertrude (Frost) Soderling on December 14, 1927, in Lyons, Nebraska.
She graduated from Lyons High School and later attended Midland College for a bookkeeping degree. She retired from Autojectors after 27 years of dedicated service. Elaine was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1969, serving as the bookkeeper for the church for over 12 years. She was also a member of the church Ladies Circle. In her free time, Elaine loved reading, spending time with her grandkids, and frying up fish her husband and kids caught at Skinner Lake.
In 1947, in Reno, Nevada, she married George Holbrook. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Survivors include her sons, Steven “Mike” (Rhonda) Holbrook, of Conway, Arkansas, David (Marti) Holbrook, of Albion, Indiana, and John (Teresa) Holbrook, of Trenton, Ohio; daughter Nancy (Danny) Trent, of Garrett, Indiana; sisters, Jo Nelsen, of Nuevo, California, Sandra Hansen, of Fremont, Nebraska, and Lois (Gene) Konopik, of Omaha, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 6 step grandchildren.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Chris Holbrook; great grandson, Seth Thompson; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Anna Soderling; sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Robert Knoell; brother-in-law, Gordon Nelsen; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Jo Holbrook.
Funeral Service will be 11:00am, Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 605 E Main St., Albion, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bret Frymier will officiate. Visitation also from 2-6pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Elaine will be laid to rest next to her husband at Sweet Cemetery, rural Albion.
