Donald R Heingartner, 77, of Albion, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Parkview Noble Hospice, Kendallville, Indiana. On April 16, 1948, Donald was born to George F and Geraldine (Beck) Heingartner, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Donald married Loretta (Bennett) Plummer on July 31, 1977, in Albion, Indiana.
Donald worked at Coney Island during high school, then Worthman Homes, later he retired from B F Goodrich, where he worked for 32 years. He loved the Lord, and told people that God is good regardless of the circumstances. He loved to make people smile. He was a craftsman woodworker who made many items but loved to make rocking horses to give to children, putting a piece of himself in everything he made. He enjoyed gardening and fishing when he could. He was active in the Albion Apostolic Church and camp. He loved being with his family and his dog Maze. Donald never knew a stranger and talked to people everywhere he went.
Surviving Donald are his wife of almost 48 years, Loretta; son Paul (Heather House) Plummer, of Carmel; daughters Lori (Trevor) Rice, of Kimmel, Anita Plummer, of Topeka; brother Dan Heingartner, of Wolcottville; sisters Pat Lytal, of Big Bear, California, Donna Springer, of Ashley; grandchildren Stephanie (Chris) Brooks, Robert John (Stephanie) Plummer, Courtney Braswell, Sierra (Leon Maley) Deter, Dalton (Taelor) Rice, and Calista (Kaleb) Smith, Jackson House, Hayden House; great-grandchildren Kamden Deter, Kylie Deter, Kaygen Deter, Jensen Rice, Caine Rice, Lane Smith, Luke Plummer.
Preceding Donald in death are his parents George and Geraldine, daughter Donita Lawson, and brother Marshall Dean Heingartner.
Funeral service will be 11:00am, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Albion Apostolic Church, 1008 E South St, Albion, Indiana, with visitation at 10:00, until service. Pastor Brad Geans and Bishop Benny Archer will preside. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion. Visitation will be held 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, June 9, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion.
