Carla A Chisum

Carla Ann Chisum, 74, of Cromwell, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, surrounded by family. Carla was born May 19, 1949, to Carl and Zoe (Reynolds) Conrad, at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan. She received her nursing degree from Kellogg Community College and retired after a distinguished career as a nurse with the California Department of Corrections.  While with the California Department of Corrections, she received a commendation for helping save the lives of patients in her care when a fire broke out nearby.

Carla’s favorite places were the beach, California, Bodega Bay, and she especially loved San Fransico. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, and her cats.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela (David) Click, of Cromwell; brothers, Don Conrad and Dale Conrad, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; grandchildren, Kendra (Andrew) Sheley, Jessica Staton, Robert Shaffer, Ashley Click, Tyler Click, Haley (Grant) Springer, Macy Click; and great-grandchildren, Khloe Sheley, Alliann Staton, Nova Sheley, Reign Shaffer, Abbigal Boyd, Tristan Boyd, Iversyn Conley, Genevieve Springer, and Jaidyn Conley.

Preceding Carla in death are her parents Carl and Zoe Conrad; brother Charles Enzian; sister Madge Reigle; and life-long best friends Tom and Mary Jane Straley, and AJ Straley.

Visitation for Carla will be Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 1-3pm and 5-8pm, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion.

Memorials in honor of Carla may be directed to the Humane Society of Noble County.
