LaOtto- Arlene Jean (Dollarhite) Lewis, 83, of LaOtto, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at The Terrace at Fort Wayne. She was born on August 3, 1941, in Fort Wayne, to Charles J. and Clara Belle (Grodrian) Dollarhite. She was a 1959 graduate of North Side High School and attended classes at IPFW. Over the years, Arlene worked at Kmart and Leath Furniture, was a bus driver for Fort Wayne Community Schools, sold real estate, and was a postal worker. In her free time she enjoyed collecting jewel tea, reading, and knitting. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla and belonged to the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) – St Charles Order. On August 9, 1986, in Fort Wayne, she married Stewart Lewis. He survives in Ft. Wayne. Also surviving are children, Kevin Fryback of Ft. Wayne, Kenneth Fryback of Decatur, Keith Fryback of Huntertown, Sara (Gary) Mattax of Ft Wayne, Sharon (Mike) Wilber of LaOtto; stepson, Adam (Heather) Lewis of Auburn; and stepdaughter, Jody Lewis of Kendallville. A host of grandchildren also survive including, Robert, Katie, Kenneth Jr., John, Nicole, Eric, Craig, Devan, Katlyn, Catherine, Aaron, Cristina, Alex, Brittany, Brooke, and Bailey; and great grandchildren, Autumn, Blake, Logan , Ava, Eloise, Daxton, McKenna, Gunner, Oakley, Navy, Paisley, and Beau. Her brothers, Gale (Karen) Dollarhite and Kermit (Claire) Dollarhite also survive in Ft Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Clara; sister, Beverly Dollarhite; and brother, Doyle Dollarhite.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am, Friday, November 15, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 228 N Main St., Avilla, with visitation from 10:30 until time of mass. Celebrating the mass will be Fr Dave Voors.
Visitation will also be held from 1-3pm & 5-7pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla, with recitation of the Rosary to begin at 3pm. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Avilla.
Contributions in Arlene’s memory may be directed to Masses at St. Mary’s or the Hematology Center at Parkview.
