Russell A. Winebrenner

Russell A. Winebrenner, 80, of Albion, Indiana, passed away on December 23rd in Friendswood, Texas, at the home of his loving daughter, Teresa Wilkinson, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Russell loved his family and was happiest when they were all together laughing and enjoying each other’s company. He would always say how proud Annette would have been of her loving family.

Russell was an avid bird watcher and was so excited to find and identify new birds.  It was one of the highlights of his life. Russell also loved his guns. He couldn’t wait to sight in a new rifle and to see how accurately his pistols were firing with the bullets that he reloaded himself.  Russell retired from the Albion Post Office in 2002 with 30 years of service.

Russell is survived by his 5 children - Ryan Winebrenner of Albion, Kent Winebrenner and his sons Parker and Brandon of Cypress, Texas, Teresa Wilkinson (Chris) and their sons Derek, Evan, Joshua and Christian of Friendswood, Texas, Paul Winebrenner (Gretchen Bradley) of Kendallville and Barbara Mack (David) and her step daughters Ashley and Amy Mack of Cypress, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Edith Sommer(Jim) of Bourbon, Indiana , his sister-in-law Laura (Walter) Winebrenner of Hastings, Michigan and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Russell was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Annette (Edwards) in 2004, his parents Norris and Ruby Winebrenner, his siblings Robert (Velda) Winebrenner, Wilbur Winebrenner, Richard (Daisy) Winebrenner, Guy (Evelyn)(Betty) Winebrenner, Lois (Joe) Stump and Walter Winebrenner.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at the Harper Funeral Home in Albion on January 4th, 2019. A Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm following the visitation at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held with the immediate family on Saturday morning at the Rosehill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society, Black Pine Animal Sanctuary of Albion or the National Audubon Society in Russell’s name.
