Max H. Strater

Max H. Strater age 87 of Topeka, IN died Thursday, October 25, 2018. Max was born June 13, 1931 in Kendallville to Emory and Florence (Eldridge) Strater. He married Ravina “June” Lytell on November 13, 1960 in Albion and she survives. Max was an Army Korean War veteran.  He was a lineman for GTE, retiring in 1992.

Max was a member of the Albion America Legion Post #246 and a lifetime member of the Kendallville VFW Post #2749

Max is survived by his wife: June Strater of Topeka; son: Stan (Margaret) Strater Sr. of Albion; Son: Charles Edward (Vonda “Angel” Ferris) Parker of Kendallville; grandchildren: Stan (Jessica) Strater Jr. of Topeka, Stephanie (Strater)  (Kevin) Clouse of Kendallville; Marina Parker of Kendallville; Shane Parker and B.J. Parker of Tennessee; great grandchildren: Savana Straterof Topeka, Shania Gonser of Topeka; Shayla Strater of Topeka; and Sydnee Smith of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother: Victor Strater and sister: Berniece Thompson.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home – Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, with Pastor Harold Gingerich of the Eden Worship Center officiating with visitation one hour prior.

Visitation will also be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery – Kendallville, with military honors by the United States Army and the Albion American Legion Post #246.
