Mary E. Kemerly, 90, of Avilla, passed away on Friday April 21, 2017 at North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion.  Born on April 1, 1927 in Swan Township, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nina (Jackson) Simon.  A lifetime area resident, she graduated from LaOtto High School.  In 1948, she married Vernon Kemerly.  He preceded her in death in 2001.  She was employed for many years at Lyall Electric, and later at QuickTanks.  She spent many years working and volunteering with the food pantry at Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla.  Ms. Kemerly was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, found great joy in her gardens, and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women Suzanna Circle.  She is survived by her sons, Turk (Lisa) Kemerly of Avilla, John (Sherry) Kemerly of LaOtto, and James (Vickie) Kemerly of Avilla.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a brother, Allan Simon.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karyl Swain in 1983, and 5 siblings.  Funeral Service will be 1:30pm Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 101 Cherry St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior.  Pastor Shalimar Holderly officiating.  Visitation also from 4-8pm on Monday April 24, 2017 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla.  Burial at Avilla Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Ms. Kemerly's name may be directed to Calvary United Methodist Church Food Pantry.  To leave online condolences, visit www.harperfuneralhomes.com.
