ALBION — Marjorie Ellen (Parker) Elser, 83, died Monday, Nov. 5, at Lutheran Life Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born May 11, 1935, in Jefferson Township, Noble County, to Reuben and Sarah (Aungst) Parker. Marjorie graduated from Kendallville High School in 1953. On Nov. 13, 1954, she was married to Charles William Elser at Asbury United Methodist Church in Albion. Charles preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2011. Marjorie retired from Dana Corporation after 26 years.
She was active in the Albion community, serving as the Asbury UMC financial secretary, and as a longtime member of the Albion Bowling Association. She enjoyed cooking and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.
She is survived by her children, Stan (Tammy) Elser of Indianapolis, Leisa Patrick of Fort Wayne, Brian (Susan) Elser of Indianapolis, and Laurie (Matt) Keister of Avilla; grandchildren, Simon Elser, Sarah Elser, Macey Elser, David Elser, Benjamin Elser, Abbey (Joel) Edinger, Logan (Hannah) Keister, Claire (Michael) Porter and Gabe Keister; a great-grandson, Owen Porter; brother-in-law, Richard "Brent" (Roberta) Elser of Albion; sisters-in-law, Helen Coil of Wolf Lake, Ann Elser of Ligonier, Peggy Elser of Albion and Pat Frymier of Auburn, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; three brothers and their wives, Walter (Mildred) Parker, Maynard (Katherine) Parker and Kenneth (Carol) Parker; and a son-in-law, Luther Patrick.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 605 E. Main St., Albion, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation is also from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery, rural Albion.
