Leila M (Kugler) Jordan

Avilla - Leila M. Jordan, 92, of Avilla, passed away on March 15, 2017 at Chandler Place in Kendallville.  She had been in failing health for the last several months.  Mrs. Jordan was born on March 22, 1924 in Swan Indiana to Archie and Lucille (Bolton) Kugler.  She graduated from Avilla High School in 1942.  On October 23rd of the same year, she married Kenneth R. Jordan at the Swan Methodist Church.  They were married for 51 years before he preceded her in death on August 27, 1993.  Mrs. Jordan retired from the General Electric Company in 1982 and spent winters in Texas and summers in Minnesota until her husband became too ill to travel.  She enjoyed Crocheting, knitting, and reading in her spare time, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  Survivors include a son, Dennis (Karen) Jordan, daughter, Kathy (Ray) Strawser, four grandchildren, Chad Jordan, Jennifer (Scott) Walters, Lisa Chambers and fiance` Heath, and Matt (Staci) Owen, five, great grandchildren, Blake Walters, Katelyn Walters, Owen Chambers, Tyler Owen, and Hailey Owen.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Jo who was stillborn, and Diane Fay who passed away at the age of 5 months.  Funeral service is 11:00am Saturday March 18, 2017 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla.  Pastor Mike Albaugh, officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-8pm Friday March 17, 2017 at the funeral home.  Burial at Swan Cemetery.  Preferred memorials to Destiny Family of Faith Church in Kendallville, the Calvary United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Avilla, or Riley Hospital for Children.  To leave online condolences, visit www.harperfuneralhomes.com
