Keith W "Tony" Sheets

Keith W. “Tony” Sheets, 92, of Avilla, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.

He was born on March 7, 1925, in Avilla, to the late Leon and Irma (McDonald) Sheets. On October 31, 1946, in Ft. Wayne, he married Gwendolyn Southern. She preceded him in death on Feb 19, 2013. Tony worked at Harvester on the repair line until his retirement in 1976.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a Seabee. He also was a member of the Avilla American Legion Post #240. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and golf, basketball, and fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his son Steven (Judy) Sheets of LaOtto, and daughter Susan (Mike) Harris of LaOtto, nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Gwendolyn, he was preceded in death by daughters, Mary Sheets and Marsha VanGessel, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be at the Avilla Cemetery.
