James E Deskins

Ligonier - James E. Deskins, 89, of Ligonier, passed away on Sunday December 24, 2017 at his home.  He was born on March 13, 1928 in Carlos, WV to the late John and Susie (Addair) Deskins.  He was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany.  In December of 1952, he married Delila "Fern" Deskins.  She preceded him in death on June 15, 2014.  He was employed by Silgan Plastics until retiring in 1991.  In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking, taking walks in the park, and sharing his faith in God.  James was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier.  Survivors include sons, Arnold Deskins and Robert Deskins; daughter, Debbie Myers, grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Steven, Kelli, Andrea, and Anthony; and great grandchildren, Hailey, Brad, Cainan, Kenzi, Kate, Evan, and Lily.  Also surviving are siblings, Amy Click, Alma Gibson, Margaret Lester, Ralph Deskins, Martin Deskins, Betty Keen, Shirley Snyder, Earnest Deskins, and J.C. Deskins; and life long friend, Flem Messer.  He was also preceded in death by son, Jerry in 2013 and daughter Sharlette in 2006, and siblings, Charles Harp, Herman Deskins, Raymond Deskins, Marie Hagerman, Donald Deskins, Thornton Deskins, Geraldine Deskins, and Arline Deskins.  Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday December 28, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 709 Johnson St., Ligonier with Rev. Jimmie Shepherd and Rev.
