Grover Eugene Bohnenberger

Avilla - Grover Eugene Bohnenberger, 83, of Avilla, passed away on Monday December 18, 2017 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.  He was born on August 10, 1934 in Green Township to the late Karl Jacob Anton and Erma Lucille (Brown) Bohnenberger.  Grover Eugene, as he was known by many, was a 1952 graduate of Churubusco High School and a US Army veteran.  He worked at McCray, International Harvester, and retired from Philips/Magnavox.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avilla, Avilla American Legion Post 240, VFW Post 2749, D.A.V, and the N.R.A.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He especially loved his dogs.  Surviving is a sister, Norma Jean Pippenger of Albion, sister-in-law, Myrtle Bohnenberger of Avilla, and brother-in-law, Paul Miller of Defiance, OH.  Also surviving are nieces, Barb (Denny) Weber, Debra (Mike) Corns, Donna Rohrs, Cheryl (Jonathan) Hill, Sharon (Tony) Rosswurm, Cindy (Andy) Krider, and Sandra (Derek) Lough, and many great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Lorene Miller, and brothers, George Arnold Bohnenberger, and Glen Ervin Bohnenberger.  Funeral service is 11:00am Thursday December 21, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 113 W Albion St, Avilla, with visitation one hour prior.  Pastor Patrick Kuhlman will officiate.  Burial with military honors will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avilla.  Memorial contributions in Grover Eugene's name may be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing.  To leave online condolences, visit www.harperfuneralhomes.com.  Arrangements by Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla.
