Donald Edward Teders

Donald Edward Teders age 81 of Avilla, died Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born April 10, 1937 in Garrett, to Edward J. and Helen G. (Arehart) Teders.  Don married Connie L. Grate on April 11, 1959 in Avilla. He was a lifetime farmer and worked at Strawser Brothers Construction for 45 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla.  Don was an avid fan of IU basketball and Coach Bobby Knight. He was the hardest working man you could come across, also being loyal and honest. He was a dedicated family man and leaves behind his constant companions – Sofie and Rudy.

Donald is survived by his wife: Connie L. Teders of Avilla; 3 sons: Scott E. (Dina) Teders of Avilla; Steven E. (Tammy) Teders of Auburn; Chad E. (Melissa) Teders of Bloomington; 3 daughters: Kay E. (Brian) Mapes of Avilla; Shelley L. (Rick) Craft of Avilla; Kim R. (Bill) Snyder of Knoxville, TN; 3 sisters: Joyce E. (Jack) Beeber of Avilla; June K. (Tom) Beeber of Wolcottville; Jean A. Patterson of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren: Bryce Mapes, Gavin Mapes, and Kayla Black; Brennen, Jared, and Aubrey Teders; Brooke Trent, Taylor Weber and William Snyder; Tiara, Ashlyn and Devin Teders; Victoria and Ethan Teders; 2 step grandsons: Matthew Craft and Tanner Cheeseman; 2 great grandchildren: Kaylin and Leo Black; 2 step great grandchildren: Mara and Colton Craft.

Don was preceded in death by his parents: Edward J. and Helen G. Teders; step grandson: Brice Craft; brother in-law: Gerald Patterson.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home, 530 N. Main St., Avilla, IN.  with a rosary service to be held at 7:30 p.m.

Visitation also from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church – Avilla, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church – Avilla, IN with Fr. Daniel Chukwuleta officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery – Avilla, IN

Memorials are to be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
