Dolores M (Brand) Schmenk

Dolores M. Schmenk, 70, of Avilla, passed away on Friday July 21, 2017 at Parkview Hospital in Ft Wayne while being cared for by hospice. She was born on July 30, 1946 to the late Minor and Jennie (Rothman) Brand. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avilla and served as the Thrivent Secretary. Dolores was a member of the American Legion Post 240 Auxiliary, where she was the chaplain.  She worked at Electric Motors & Speciality in Garrett, retiring in 2007.  On May 14, 2005, she married James Schmenk, who survives in Avilla. Also surviving are sons, Jordan (Carrie) Priest of Oshkosh, WI, Christopher Priest of Bedford, IN, and Jeffery (Angela)  Priest of Vevay, IN; daughter, Amy Hartman, of Stroh, IN; and step daughters, Carla (Jeff) York of Lutz, FL, and Cara (Dave) Bowman, of Ft Wayne.  Also surviving are brothers, Floyd (Marian) Brand of Eaton, OH, Robert (Marci) Brand of Rathdrum, ID, and Max (Rita) Brand of Swanson, OH; sister Marlene (Tom) Bettinger of Elk, WA, 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Bill" Priest, second husband, George Diehm, and step daughter, Christine Elbert. Funeral Service will be 11am Tuesday July 25, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Albion St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Patrick Kuhlman officiating. Visitation also from 4-8pm Monday July 24, 2017 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St, Avilla. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
