Irvin “Bruce” Coplin Jr. age 72 of Avilla, IN died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born September 16, 1946 in Auburn, IN to Irvin Bruce Coplin Sr. and Barbara Joan (Wasson) Coplin. He married Sharon Kay Woodward on April 27, 1968 in Avilla, IN at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Bruce was a conductor on the Penn Central, Conrail, and CSX Railroads, retiring in 2006. Bruce was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as a combat engineer.
Bruce was a member of the Path of Life Community Church – Corunna, IN serving as a trustee, Path of Life Men’s Breakfast Club, Avilla Masonic Lodge #460, serving as a PM., Noble County O.E.S. #122 – Worthy Patron, Noble County Gas and Steam Tractor Club, 10 years in the Scottish Rite, and the Avilla American Legion.
Bruce is survived by his wife: Sharon Kay Coplin, Avilla, IN; sons: Matthew I. Coplin, Avilla, IN; Phillip B. (Rhonda) Coplin, Avilla, IN; daughter: Tammie (Fluke) (James) Jones, Avilla, IN sisters: Anna Christine ”Chris”(Kenneth) Butler, Avilla, IN; Kathryn “Kate” Williams, Wolcottville, IN; grandchildren: Gary Heiman, Russell Coplin, Danin and Marilyn Fluke, Justin Coplin, Andrew Jacie and Laila Coplin, Tristan Jones, Clayton Fluke, MaKayla and Eric Slone, Lucas Coplin, Trayce Jones, Wyatt Coplin and Alexis Rogers; great grandchildren: Liam Fluke, Fennec Burrage-Heiman and Luca Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Irvin Bruce and Barbara J. Coplin Sr. and brother in-laws: Isacc Williams and Rudolph Kleinknight.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home, 530 N. Main St, Avilla, with Pastor David Beard officiating.
Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel, with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will take place in Avilla Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army and the Avilla American Legion.
Memorials are to Shriner’s Hospital or the Avilla Masonic Lodge.
