Bert E Helsel

Bert E. Helsel age 63 of Minster, OH died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Van Wert, OH. Bert was born March 20, 1954 in Hicksville, OH to Carl A. and Jeannene (Dangler) Helsel. He married Mary B. Berkes on January 21, 1976 in Oceanside, CA and she survives I Minster.

Bert retired from the U.S. Marines after 20 years of service as a gunnery sergeant. He then worked for Honda of America as an equipment service tech, retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Living Hope Assembly of God – St. Mary’s, OH and the Celina American Legion.

Bert is survived by his wife: Mary B. Helsel, Minster, OH; son: Shane E. Helsel, St. Mary’s, OH; daughter: Dawn A. and Randy Jennings, Powell, OH; 2 grandsons: Jacob and Noah Helsel, St. Mary’s OH; brother: Kenny and Nancy Helsel, Wolcottville, IN; sister: Suzanne and Joe Mock, Leesville, SC.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents: Carl A. and Jeannene Helsel; brother: Carl Andrew Helsel Jr.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, IN.  with Pastor Rick officiating with Mark Kondas assisting.

Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Monday, September25, 2017 and 1 hour prior to services at Harper Funeral Home – Albion, IN

Military graveside honors to be conducted by the United States Marines and the Albion American Legion at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, IN.

Memorials are to Living Hope Assembly of God Missions.
