Larry L. Cooper, 84, of Albion, Indiana, passed away at his home on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born in Albion on Dec 26, 1939, to Leonard and Bernice (Keister) Cooper.
On Oct 2, 1959, in Albion, he married Nancy Johnson.
Larry owned and operated Larry Cooper Excavating and Farm Drainage, which now is in it's third generation of ownership, as Cooper Directional Boring by his son, Tracy. He owned and operated the Albion Carwash and Cooper's Cafe with Nancy and son, Tim. He had many hobbies in life, mostly involving being outdoors — deer and rabbit hunting, trap shooting and fishing. He also was known for his impeccable lawn care. In addition, Larry was a founding member of the Albion Conversation Club and was a driving force behind the development of Albion's Valleyview Ball Park.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Cooper, of Albion; sons, Timothy (Gary Sumner) Cooper, of Indianapolis and Tracy (Lori) Cooper, of Albion; grandchildren, Amanda (Diante) Thomas, of Indianapolis, Courtney (Patrick) Honeycutt, of Indianapolis and Anna (Caleb McCollough) Lytle, of Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving is sister, Donna (Duke) Snyder, of Albion; sister-in-law, Deanna Cooper, of LaGrange; brother-in-law, John Hovarter, of Corunna; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Cooper; and sister, Barbara Hovarter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bret Frymier with Trinity Methodist Church and Pastor Daniel Payton with McCordsville Methodist Church will co-officiate.
Visitation will also be from 3:30-7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion.
