Dear Mary, Max, Cathy, Stanley,  and family;
I am so sorry to hear about Vicki's passing.

My closest relationship to her was at church in our Sunday School, MYF functions, Choir and of Course as a member of our high school class. As anyone who grew up with her could readily see, she was a leader, intelligent, and knew what she wanted in life and went after it. The last contact that I had with her was in 1975 in the Avilla Laundry Mat.  We discussed our hopes and the directions we were hoping to go with our lives, it looks like Vicki certainly followed her dreams.  She ended up in Florida and I went west to Colorado, never did our paths cross again.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to you and let you know that I will be praying for you during this very sat time.

Sincerely
Elaine

This was a shock to me as I did not even know that Vicki was ill. She was the most amazing lady I never had a chance to meet, but her number is in my speed dial. I have a dog rescue and she sponsored so many of the heartworm positive dogs that I rescued from NC. She will surely be missed by the rescue community. What a selfless person she was for all of the voiceless.
I send my prayers and condolences out to her fiance Michael and family. This is truly heartbreaking and I am so very sorry for your loss.

I apologize in advance for the length of my note.

Never have I felt someone touch my soul so deeply without ever having met them. Vicki Martin sponsored several dogs who found their way onto Martin's Dog Farm Rescue. She selflessly provided resources for there medical needs and transportation from North Carolina to our rescue in VA. Never would she acknowledge her generosity. Ever! I found myself loving this private, generous and kind woman I knew nothing about. Even social media (believe me, I looked) would only reveal her relentless support of dog after dog after dog, but nothing about her personally. The only way I could ever think to begin to thank her for everything she did for me and all the dogs she sponsored was to love them, work tirelessly to get them trained & healthy (physically and emotionally) and then find their forever, loving homes. I would always post their stories on Facebook and would see her "like" the updates and eventually their Forever Home Adoption stories. That was the extent of her communication with me. I would smile knowing she saw them happy and loved after seeing them so lost and scared in the shelter.

I am overcome by emotion and hope Vicki knew in her heart what an incredibly special and powerful woman she was, and will always be, to me and so many others in the rescue community. It wasn't just the financial support she provided, but more the depth to her love for the dogs. It was ALL about the dogs. She wanted them safe. She wanted them loved. She wanted better practices upheld while they were in shelters. She unconditionally loved every breed, age and size. Equally important, she didn't want drama, praise or to waste time doing anything but getting them safe. I admire her.

Bless you Dear Vicki. Bless your fiancé, your furbabies (Ranger & Libby) and your extended family.
