Barbara Coplin

Barbara J. Coplin, 92, of Avilla, passed away on Friday Feb 24, 2017 at Kendallville Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on June 15, 1924 in Elkhart to the late Ray and Gladys (Watson) Wasson.  On Sept 13, 1943 in Spencerville, she married Irvin Coplin.  He preceded her in death on Dec 11, 2010.  She was a member of the D.A.R. in Albion, Noble County Saddle Club, and belonged to the DeKalb County Historical Society.  She enjoyed bird watching, loved horses, flowers, and reading.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was employed as an Aide at Sacred Heart Nursing Home.  She is survived by a son, Bruce (Sharon) Coplin, daughters, Anna Christine (Kenneth) Butler, and Kathryn Elizabeth Williams.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Margaret Williams, brother, Gene Wasson, and son in law, Isaac Williams.  Funeral service is 12:00pm Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior.  Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday Feb 28, 2017 at the funeral home.  Burial at White City Cemetery, Spencerville.  Memorials to Riley Hospital for Children or the Shriners.  To leave online condolence, visit www.harperfuneralhomes.com
